Max. Pi from North Carolina

Hi All!

I just adopted a 5-year-old maximilian pionus. His name is Edwin. He's been at my place now for a week and a half. So far, so good! He has settled down nicely and is becoming quite comfortable with me -- realizing I am the ultimate source for tasties (in his cage, he just gets pellets). I've got him clicker trained and am beginning with target training. Meanwhile, I've been practicing 'step up' a lot with him using the clicker and treats.

I am a first-time parrot owner and I feel very lucky that things are going smoothly so far and that he is already doing well with basic training. But I will certainly have many questions down the line! I look forward to talking about pi's and parrot-related matters with you all.

Cheers,
Anne

Welcome, tell us more about Edwin! Not sure how much you knew prior to having a parrot, but there are some toxic foods and substances, like zinc and nonstick pans, that can be dangerous. This forum is very informative and friendly

Welcome to you and Edwin! Edwin is so lucky to have you. So wonderful that you have started with training. Have you checked out Good Bird Inc? Or Phoenix Landing Foundation? I am going to Pheonix Landing's class in NC in Nov.
