Raven and Griffin's playground area
« on: July 14, 2014, 09:31:49 PM »
Since some of you commented on my set up, I'd like to show the whole thing :icon_mrgreen: I'm really quite pleased with the way it came out! This is Raven and Griffin's cages.

Robin has this, but will get more stuff for his birthday soon.  :)

The cages, boings, and ropes are fantastic! Those birdies must be very happy!

What kind of floor covering do you have?  that is my biggest challenge.

Thanks! :) The good thing is that a lot of that stuff I had previously (and haven't set it up for years because of where I lived). Now it's put to good use. Some of it is pretty big for Poi's and Pi's, but they don't mind, they love it.

momazon - The floor covering is that plastic carpet protector. You can buy at Home Depot or hardware store on a roll. They sell by the foot. Not expensive, but it doesn't look all that great but it's easy. Just spray and wipe up.

Super neat cages and setup. Love all the ropes, bongs and thingys you have going for them.  :icon_mrgreen: I'm sure they love all the fun things to do when out!

Thanks De'Andrea  :)

momazon - I like having the plastic protectors, yet the way it bunches up when the cage sits on it (makes folds, and it's not laying flat and smooth) that makes it kind of a challenge to use the broom or duster on it.

Thanks maxsmom, but as you can see from the second pic, how it bunches up under the cage wheels I don't like, and also the fact that it's only 17 1/2" wide... I have to overlap, and debris gets under there.

Overall, I like it.... But it would be nice if it was a hard smooth surface like your office mats, only custom made to size! Wouldn't that be nice.

I used to use newspaper in the very front area, but that looked so bad.

Nothing is perfect but you are doing way better than me. I am so impressed.  Just accept a compliment. :wink1:

Thanks Eloy's mom  :)
Raven got lucky with a large spare cage I already had. Griffin's cage (smaller one) is an A&E. I ordered it online, and when it got here it was so poorly made I couldn't believe it. It didn't align straight in several places, sharp metal sticking out which needed to be cut and filed. Then, the playtop was welded together so poorly that it was sitting all crooked! Petco.com customer service was GREAT. They submitted my photos to A&E, and worked with them to get me a new replacement playtop! I still have to take it out of the box and see that it's not defective, and bolt it on!

I finally got smart and got the plastic floor protectors for under desks to put under each of my cages and they work really well, they are I think about 45x54 - I got them at my local Coatco for about $19 each and I can easily vacuum or sweep and just spray with water or AviClean and wipe up poop because everyone, especially Adam seem to have the knack to aim off the top of the cage and hit the floor.
