Is anything softer than a white cap's head
« on: March 03, 2013, 05:36:12 AM »
Max is not a cuddly bird so I wait for permission to pet his head. I love petting his head. I honestly do not know if it is because his is young (1 year in 2 weeks!) Or because he is white cap. His head is softer than cotton or a bunny. It is oh so incredibly soft. And he doesnt want to have head pets all the time...he is such a teaser...I am so happy when he let's me know that head petting is ok

Eloy is the same. HE decided when I can pet him. And he is like velvet so I think all Pionus are that soft.
But that is one of the happiest time, when we are allowed to pet them. ♥

The softness of Max's head is distinctly different than my other pionus.  Perhaps it is youth as Eloy is around the same age as Max.

Kobe is 6 so that blows my theory about youth out the water.  Ok, it is just a pionus thing even if one of my pionus is much softer than the other.  :-)

My BW is softer than my daughter's Maxi, but you are right, they are very velvety little birds!

Yes!!!  :) I have to say, my Red Bellied (Poicephalus) is THE SOFTEST thing on earth LOL!! Pi's and Rose Breasted Toos do come close though!

Especially after he's had a bath, he's literally so soft you could just barely feel him haha. His feathers are very fine and silky textured. The other smaller Poi's I've felt at the bird store (Senegals, Meyer's, other Red Bellied etc) are still not quite as soft as Robin. I don't know maybe cause too many grimly fingers touching them at the store and no bath? LOL

Have you ever noticed that Macaws and Conures aren't very soft in comparison to Pi's (and Poi's)? Even the smaller ones.
