Title: Dental Floss
Post by: maxsmom on January 11, 2014, 07:46:33 PM
Anyone else's pi go on all out attack when they see you using dental floss? I got a reminder when Max bit me while flossing earlier in week. Today I carefully placed him in another part of room while I flossed....the clipped pi did a flying bite at my finger...I missed most of brunt by movibg quickly. He doesn't do this when I brush my teeth but apparently dental floss is evil :yikes:

Hmm... All this stuff I read about those who have mature or hormonal males. Do I really want a male Pi??!!  :shocking:........Yeah, still do. I'll just try not to be scared LOL

Ummm I am not sure this has anything to do with hormones

It has to do with the fact that the bird sees dental floss as evil and must be attacked to save mom which may involve a few bites accidentally or on purpose to try and warn her that the floss is in fact evil and she should run away :biglaughing:
Lurch hates hoodies sometimes and will go into battle mode when he see's me in one, or when my sister walks out in something he's never seen her in he'll fly right at her like she is a Yeti that must be attacked and driven away.
Last time he did that he flew right at her and landed on her arm about to bite then stopped and looked like this isn't the creature I thought it was and allowed her to move him back to his house.

Yes I feel he is trying to grab dental floss. Regardless of his intentions I will remember not to be in same room as him when I floss

Cute Lurch story

Okay with floss here, but I put on a knit cap last night and Mr. Dob flew at my head with a mighty force and bit the cap repeatedly.  It is cold again today so I am wearing the same cap, and he has been stalking me all day.  If you don't hear from me again, tell my mom I love her.... :AvatarSmileyLOL:

:wefly:   Glad to hear I do not have the only birdie that takes offence to odd things. Dobby, leave Mom be. She is cold. Hats are good

Generally I do think female pi are easier. But one adjusts to rough and tumble. My boys are pretty sweet in their own way.  :hugs:

Meanwhile, the Fearless Hat Banisher has extended his frenzy to include scarves.  I have lost the fashion war...

I approached in a hat today.  Oh dear did I get a strong reaction from both of them.

Our pi are fashion police

We'll see about Raven. Being a Pi, he just might be the only fashion police around here.
I've always heard and read about that, but strangely, even with the larger species, I've never experienced it would you believe. Towel around my head, dark glasses, hat, headphones... Now if I did all that at once, well then maybe... :biglaughing:

Dental floss? I'll make sure to beware.

Dobby just started this since we moved north and I wear more hats, but he has seen us both in hats and scarves before.  The floss is really funny :biglaughing:

Oh well, I  need to remember not to floss near him

Lurch loves flying onto my shoulder whenever I head to my end of the house to my bathroom or the computer room. He seems to have no problem with me brushing my teeth or flossing. HOWEVER, he still gets fully homicidal against certain hats and hoodies. If I see the crazy look in his eyes I quickly check to see if I'm wearing a hat or hoodie he hates. If I forget I in the least get rushed and pecked.
Sunday I headed out into the living room early in the afternoon and decided to let him out and eat the hot cereal on the stove. He flew to me to see what I was doing, but I know he gets bad about not sharing food right away so I had a new hoodie on and pulled the hood up around my neck so he couldn't pop me for not sharing quick enough.
He seemed to be sitting there perfectly happy, suddenly shreiked and punched a hole almost through my right earlobe. :shocking:
I sweared and asked what was that about, he knew he was in deep doo doo and shot away for his cage. I chased him in with a hat kicking and screaming and covered him for a hour while he pirate sweater at me.
I think it was a combo of not sharing food fast enough, and that hoodie and maybe I didn't handle it perfectly but I'm tired of getting popped when I'm not quite expecting it and my ear has two holes in it.
After that I let him out and of course he was a bit prissy and so was I but he eventually got over it and hung out nicely and shared dinner and scratches.
Got to remember to get food to eat, especially breakfast, before letting him out, and no shoulder privledges while dealing with food or wearing the wrong thing.

I guess we are slow to learn the rules, I have been taught not to wear a hoodie when getting them out in the mornings.  About your ear, you know, you could earn some holiday money if you take him to the mall and charge for the piercings.   :icon_mrgreen:

Now that's a great idea   :biglaughing: maybe he was just making a fashion statement... :shades: He's sitting on top of the other recliner doing his pirate gibberish right now, saying rupear, chocomail, baby, etc.
He's been a perfect gentleman since too so I guess either he learned or moved on.
Nice thing is he seems to be very forgiving now after a short time when we have our little battles. :)
