Sorry, I had told her to put her hand in the cage slowly, talk, sing, etc. to the bird.  She said she was too afraid to let it out to fly, then that it was screaming.  I asked her how it was going after the weekend, and the last post said she sold the pi to some people out in the country, where it had a large cage.  She said it was better in her opinion, and she bought a hand raised Youyou bird.  I am unable to find what a youyou is, but in everyday language, it is a term like lovey or sweetie, so I am wondering if it is not a love bird.  Glad to hear the pi found a home, hope it gets to fly.

I am going to write now that I hope all goes well.

Please let me know when to translate post by post.  I am always unsure of internet etiquette, and do not want to assume that others do not know a foreign language!

Momazon - as we all know this is an "English" forum.  New comers from other countries who can not write and/or speak English should be making the effort to write their posts in English considering the only language for the board is our language.  I know she is either reading the English or perhaps she is having to translate what we say into French but nevertheless... I myself am not interested in trying to help someone learn about their bird if we both can not communicate in my own language.

I wrote her a PM when she was first on here and I wrote my PM in English and she wrote back to me in French but when I did translation on it, she responded to my PM fine with what I said or mentioned but it was in French.  So she needs to start posting in English if she wants to continue to post here.   I had also told her in my PM that there are French written forums on parrots so she should be able to find one that has Pionus.  I'd prefer the PM System to not be bombarded with back and forth posting on the Pionus topics either.

I hope you know I was not upset in any way that I just want the gal to understand that we speak English here and I know you are trying to help her out.  If you want to continue with her through regular email, that is all and good with me but not through PM's.

Problems that happen when you see mixed languages on a board like this is that other people in various languages will start posting in their language and then it gets confusing.  Then if it is not moderated then it could really be on something not even pertaining to parrot related topics.

Of course, I am never sure of forum etiquette, and have always worked in a multilingual job.  When we all talk, some of us peak the same languages, but none of us speaks them all.  There is always someone who needs translating or they are out of the loop.If I work with you, I know when to translate, but forums are different.  The issue of posting in all languages did not occur to me.  Most people can get by in English, but I have met some very educated people who just are not language people. I do not take offense readily, so do not ever worry about letting me know these things!
